Justin & Melissa Engagement Session

•October 21, 2009 • 1 Comment

A week ago I had the pleasure of shooting an engagement session for Justin & Melissa.  This was quite a courageous couple.  They were climbing on bridges, climbing up trees and wrestling in a pile of leaves.  I definitely loved photographing all of their playfulness.  We had a great time and I can’t wait until their wedding.  Below are some of my favorites from the day.

Scott & Sarah Dolan

The day that Scott and Sarah got married was one of my Saturday’s.  It could not have gone more perfect.  Their venue was breathtaking.  It was an old pavilion with peeling white paint.  There were strung rows of white fabric that stretched from front to back.  It was fabulous.  They also selected my favorite florist, Lilli-Maeg.  The bouquets and boutonnieres were gorgeous.  We had ample time to shoot… it was great.  Scott and Sarah had the limo take the wedding party to the reception and remained onsite to shoot with me alone.  That was FANTASTIC.  I urge everyone to take this into consideration.  I think its absolutely important to spend at least 20 minutes alone with your photographer.  Without distraction you’re able to capture such beautiful and relaxed images.  The reception site was amazing.  I had an incredible time and I feel very honored to have had this opportunity.  Thank you so much Scott and Sarah =)

From the photographers prospective…

You know, there are the perfect Saturday’s for us photographers.  I will describe to you the feeling.  You have a great nights sleep with no nightmares of forgetting your batteries at a wedding, etc.  Your eyes open and there is no sunlight coming through the window.  There is not a drop of rain anywhere.  You have everything in order and you feel…… calm.  Calm?  Yes, calm.  Your not nervous or anxious… you feel like this is the day.  This is your day!  You arrive on time.  Everything is on time.  The chemistry with you and your camera is unparalleled.  You shoot and shoot and shoot.  You are in love with it.  The passion that you have for your photography is running through your veins and it is exhillirating.

Yes… this is what we photographers feel on our perfect Saturday’s.  We all search for the feeling that we get when our camera become an extension of our souls.  There is nothing that gives me chills more than thinking about being aligned with the universe and capturing a moment in time exactly how I feel it.

Jared & Andrea

Recently, I photographed an engagement session for Jared and Andrea.  When I met with them last year Andrea and I discovered that we grew up in the same neighborhood and actually played softball together.  I instantly felt like we formed a bond.

It was so nice to have had the opportunity to shoot their engagement photo’s prior to their wedding in December.  We started up at West End Overlook.  It was a lot colder this time than my previous shoot with Joe and Melissa.  Jared and Andrea were dressed for the occasion though.

After the Overlook and we travelled down to Station Square.  Jared proposed to Andrea on the Smithfield Street bridge so they wanted some shots with that in the background.  We found a great overlook which enabled us to get some shots of the bridge plus some close up shots of the city buildings.

It was a great session and I am all the more exited for their wedding.  I am so happy that they chose to have me photograph their engagement session.  Below are some of my favorites.  ENJOY!

Daniel & Ingrid

I recently had the pleasure of photographing the wedding day of Daniel and Ingrid Kavic.  The church was a good shooting environment for me because the altar was lit with small spotlights.  I was not allowed to use my flash, but after seeing the lighting situation I was relieved.  The light was so dramatic and directed very well.  The images turned out spectacular.

We shot on-site at Edgeworth Park.  This little park is like a fairytale in the middle of a cute little town.  It was a great place to shoot at.  The reception was held at The Edgeworth Club, which is a photographers dream.  I had an amazing day of photographing.  I am grateful that Dan and Ingrid chose me to capture their day =)

I also had an engagement session with  Joe and Melissa whom were very pleasant to work with.  This was the first time that I had met both of them.  Melissa and I had been in touch via phone and email for several months.  It was so nice to finally meet her in person.  Below are some of my favorite from the session.

Matt and Shannan had a lovely ceremony and included a balloon release at the end.  I had only ever had the chance to photograph this once before.  It turned out great and definitely added a different kind of energy to them being announced.

Onsite shooting went great.  Below are some of my favorites from the day.  Thanks to Matt and Shannan for selecting me as the photographer for their wedding day =)
